Buying guide

What actually makes a lunch bag leak-proof

The liner and its seams. A stitched liner leaks through the needle holes; a heat-welded (high-frequency sealed) PEVA or TPU liner does not. Ask for the seam method in the quotation, not just the word 'leak-proof'.

  • Liner: PEVA for price, TPU for commercial washing and durability.
  • Test: 1 litre of water in the compartment for 10 minutes, no wicking through the outer.
  • Cleaning: a removable liner or wipe-clean surface is what users notice.

Frequently asked

Are leak-proof lunch bags really waterproof?

A welded liner holds liquid inside the compartment, but the zip is not watertight. Leak-proof means melted ice or a spilled drink stays in the liner rather than soaking the outer fabric.

PEVA or TPU — which liner is better?

PEVA is the cost-effective PVC-free standard for consumer lunch bags. TPU is tougher, tolerates repeated washing and is preferred for commercial delivery bags; it costs more.

How do you check liners for leaks?

Sampled units get 1 litre of water in the insulated compartment for 10 minutes during pre-shipment inspection. Any wicking through to the outer fabric counts as a major defect.
